Ode to 2025
To be or not to be: or yes or no
Humanity must choose which way to go.
For ages long, deep knowledge lay in sleep,
And only angels still their vigil keep.
We have been warring for twelve thousand years,
And man has called this Earth a vale of tears;
But planets now are moving into place
To mark this year, of all, a year of grace;
For in this year of twenty twenty-five
It is a privilege to be alive
To witness humankind metamorphose
And waken that which long lay comatose.
Our missing chromosome at last restored,
Our heart force quickened, to advance accord.
So wars shall cease, for all will understand
How precious is the life of every man,
Of every being here upon the Earth;
And clear shall be to all each creature's worth.
Then cruelty shall cease, by all abhorred,
And ploughshares shall at last replace the sword.
Our agriculture also shall transform,
Contented animals shall be the norm;
With expert care and love and toil
We will revivify th'exhausted soil.
All famine in the world at last shall cease;
New methods shall eliminate disease;
Inventions and techniques there soon shall be
To cleanse the oceans, purify the sea.
New islands and new continents arise,
Which, Edenlike, will be a paradise.
All this, and more, the planets now foretell,
And say: Fear not, Mankind, all shall be well.
It may seem that all this is mad;
It's true that earthquakes shake the ground,
That wars and genocide abound
And violence is all around.
Despite the fearsome news we hear
In this our transformation year
We must not give up hope for fear,
For fear acts as a catalyst
To draw towards us what is worst.
But rather concentrate the mind
On feeling grateful, being kind.
In quantum physics we can see
Each thought transforms reality.
Set fear aside. Believe this warning.
In deepest night before the dawning
It is impossible to see
The wondrous things that are to be.
Fear not! Look up and stretch your eyes.
Portentous planets in the skies
This year align and signify
That joy is coming certainly.
What we see now are pangs of birth,
The travail of our Mother Earth
Who shakes in pain from south to north
In this her struggle to bring forth
New destiny to suffering earth.
It's the destruction of the cage
Of hate and greed that rule mankind
Who fights the fear in his own mind.
We will emerge in the new age,
Dazzled and blinking in the light
As day dawns and the sun is bright.
We shall find joy and love and more,
Find everything we sought before:
Prosperity, togetherness.
We'll work for good in utter peace.
That's why in twenty twenty-five
It is so good to be alive.
Apocalypse, it is foretold,
Shall usher in an Age of Gold.
